i was studying for my Social Justice final yesterday, and i'm not even sure why, but i totaaaally got inspired. you know when you just have a really good feeling about drawing or painting or whatever? like you have this urge to put an idea to paper?
figures i'd get a craving to draw while i'm studying...
anyway, i dropped studying and this was the result. i've never drawn ariel before, but i had so much fun with her hair.
yesterday was my older sister's birthday, methinks i'll give this to her as a gift.
took my SJ exam today and totally aced it as well.
First things first, this is an absolutely stunning picture as always. Her hair, her pose, her expression...perfectly captures your mood. Her expression is wonderfully vivacious with the right hint of mystery, the sideways glance makes us wonder whats going on in her mind. Hair is definitely your strong point, and in this piece its gorgeously depicted. The curls are very realistic and charmingly windswept, and I love the luxurious reddish-orange color; enough red to fascinate you, yet not too much so that it appears 'tomato-y' and weird. Her face is very sharply drawn, and I've noticed a lot of improvement in the hands...the only thing that I could critique is that the outlines around the bottom around her tail and back seem a bit rough. I understand that her hair is the focus of this piece, but the outlines aren't as sharp as they are around her face and hands. Overall, a beautiful and captivating piece that appeals to everyone...I think that's evident from the comments
You irritate me. I mean really, REALLY iritate me. In a good way though! Whenever I go through your gallery I am always thinking, "I've got to draw better!" Althought the way I draw is different from your normal style, I wish I could accomplish this kind of art.
